About the Project

The Muslim community in the United States is rapidly growing and becoming more influential in both public and private sectors in part through their financial power. Because the US Census does not collect data pertaining to religion, it is hard to know the economic status and financial power Muslims contribute to the US economy.

Data pertaining to Muslim wealth is useful on an empirical level because it adds much needed information to the emerging literature on this relatively under-studied population. At the same time, a study of this nature also has practical applications for the business sectors. As the Muslim population rises in this country, more business institutions will need to begin taking into account Muslim perspectives on finances and wealth. This includes real estate and private investment sectors.

Zeus Capital Advisers (ZCA) would like to conduct an in-depth study of Muslim wealth in America in an effort to expand the literature on this diverse, vibrant, influential, and under-studied population. We hope to uncover not only information regarding gross income levels of Muslims in America, but also what they spend money on, where they spend money, philanthropic donation, financial investments and planning, and property ownership. This data will be evaluated in light of cultural, generational, and regional differences among Muslims in America.
